How to set up Shopify authorization in Adverity as an agency

Setup Shopify Authorization

Shopify does not support a single agency-level authorization that covers multiple stores. Each Shopify store requires its own separate authorization. This is an API limitation from Shopify itself, not an Adverity limitation — there is no equivalent to a Meta Business Manager connection for Shopify.

To authorize a Shopify store in Adverity, follow these steps:

  1. In Adverity, navigate to the authorization section and select Shopify as the platform.

  2. On the Setup Type screen, choose Access Shopify using your credentials (or use "someone else's credentials" if you are sending the authorization request to a client to complete on their end).

  3. When prompted for the store domain, enter the client's .myshopify.com store URL (e.g., example-store.myshopify.com).

  4. Click Authorize to complete the authorization for that store.

  5. Repeat this process for each additional client store.

Usage

When working with multiple Shopify clients as an agency, keep the following in mind:

  • One authorization per store: You must create a separate authorization in Adverity for each client's Shopify store. The Shopify API requires explicit access to be granted per store.

  • Finding the store domain: Every Shopify store is assigned a .myshopify.com URL when they sign up. You can find this in the Shopify admin settings, or simply ask your client for their store's .myshopify.com address.

  • Client-granted access: If you do not have direct access to a client's store credentials, you can send them an authorization request. They can then grant access using their own credentials by selecting the "Access Shopify using someone else's credentials" option.
