How to Set Up a SharePoint Connection in Adverity

Last updated: July 13, 2026

Setup SharePoint Connection

To successfully create or re-authorize a SharePoint connection in Adverity, ensure the following requirements are met before proceeding:

Required Microsoft Graph API Permissions (must be granted by your organization's IT Administrator in Microsoft Entra admin center, formerly Azure AD):

  1. Sites.ReadWrite.All – Full read and write access to all sites

  2. Files.ReadWrite.All – Full read and write access to all files

  3. offline_access – Maintain access to data the application has been given access to

SharePoint Access Requirements:

  • The authorizing user must have full access to the SharePoint site containing the target folder or files.

  • Folder-only access is not sufficient due to API limitations — the user needs permissions to the entire site, not just individual folders or documents.

Once all permissions are in place, proceed to authorize the SharePoint connection in Adverity:

  1. Navigate to your Adverity workspace and open the Connections section.

  2. Locate the existing SharePoint connection or create a new one.

  3. Click Authorize and sign in with the user account that has been granted the required Microsoft Graph API permissions above.

  4. Complete the OAuth flow to grant Adverity access to SharePoint on behalf of the new user.

  5. Confirm the connection is successfully authorized and functioning.

Usage

Once the SharePoint connection is authorized, it can be used to read from and write to SharePoint sites and files within your Adverity datastreams. Keep the following in mind:

  • The connection is tied to the authorizing user's account. If that user's access changes or is revoked, the connection may need to be re-authorized by another eligible user.

  • If you need to transfer ownership of the authorization to a different user, ensure the new user meets all the permission requirements listed above before re-authorizing.

  • If you encounter an admin consent prompt during authorization (requesting organization-wide administrator approval), contact your IT Administrator to grant the required delegated permissions in Microsoft Entra admin center.
